emailAI Pro and Firewalls

The emailAI Pro engine requires the use of the following ports to function correctly.

If you are running a firewall including Windows XP Service Pack 2 you must open these ports for full access for the emailAI Pro engine to operate correctly

Port 110 for POP

Port 25 for outgoing and optional incoming mail

Port 8890 for emailAI Pro Communication Server

Port 8895 for emailAIPro Communication Server

for emailAI Junior the following port access must be allowed

Port 8890 for emailAI Junior to talk to emailAI's Communication Server

Port 8895 for emailAI Junior to talk to emailAI's Communication Server

Can I use multiple personal firewalls on one computer?

No, running multiple firewalls on a single computer can cause conflicts that are hard to identify and troubleshoot

Only one of the firewalls can receive the packets over the network and process them, and it is completely random which one will get operating system preference when you boot.

Sometimes you may even have a conflict that causes neither firewall to protect your connection.

In summary, do not use other firewall products, even the Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XP, on the same machine as another Firewall product.
