SMTP Server

Overview

The SMTP server allows the emailAI Pro engine to receive mail directly from the internet as a mail server. The SMTP server also allows the relaying of mail which can be used to automatically add addresses to the white list of outbound mail and it will also accelerate email by using its multiple connection technology.

Addresses to which email is to be received to should either be added as individual "Local Account" setups or by the addition of "Local Domains". Emails not matching a "Local Domain" or local "Local Account " will be classed as mail to relay.

Mail relay will be refused if a computer requesting the relay is not on the Authorised IP (Relay) list.

To relay outbound mail via the emailAI Pro engine add the IP of the computer wishing to relay the mail to the Authorised IP list and set the email client outgoing mail server to the IP address of the computer running the emailAI Pro engine.

Mail received by the SMTP server can be delivered by "Advanced Delivery" or picked up by a Mail Client that successfully validates a "Local Account" account by POP3.

Note : Windows XP/2000 has a built in mail server in IIS which may need to be disabled if the emailAI SMTP fails to start.

Options

Enable SMTP Server

When enabled emailAI Pro will automatically start the SMTP Server on startup.

SMTP Server Port

The port in which the emailAI Pro engine listens on for incoming SMTP requests. The default is port 25.

Listen On IP Address

The IP Address which emailAI Pro engine listens on for incoming SMTP requests. The default is (Any) or 127.0.0.1.

SMTP Server Domain

The domain name used in the HELO response for incoming SMTP requests.

Authorised IP (Relay)

When sending outbound mail via emailAI Pro the IP address of the computer sending the mail must be listed in here. Wild cards are supported, ie 192.168.1.% will allow all machines between 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.1.255 to send outbound mail via emailAI Pro. To remove an address click on it and press delete on the keyboard.

When relaying outbound mail and the option under "White List" - Auto White List Recipient of Emails I send, is enabled, then the email address of the person the email is addressed to will be automatically added to the "White List". This prevents the receiver of the email having to validate when they reply to the original email sent.

IP Location Blocking Message

The message entered in here is what is relayed back to the connecting mail server to include in the NDR that is sent back to the user trying to send the email. This would typically contain alternative contact information like a link to a contact us page.
