How To Configure Microsoft Exchange
Overview
The emailAI Pro engine is a very advanced email based server with many typical mail server functions in many ways eliminating the requirements for an internal mail server as the emailAI Pro engine carries out most of them already, and then more.
However some organisations have different configurations in which they use a particular mail server.
For this example we demonstrate how to configure Microsoft Exchange which a lot of companies use due to its tight integration with Microsoft Outlook.
Steps Involved
- Configure Microsoft Exchange to listen on SMTP port 2550 for incoming SMTP traffic. This can be done through the Exchange System Manager under the SMTP protocol options.
- Enable emailAI's SMTP Server
- Enable emailAI's Advanced Delivery and ensure that the outgoing port in Advanced Delivery is set to 2550
- Configure the outgoing mail server in emailAI to that of the ISP on the link that emailAI is running
- Add Local domains in emailAI for each domain that the internal Exchange server handles
- Duplicate in the "Local Accounts" section all valid local email addresses (optional but recommended as it will block unwanted traffic or dumped names and ensure only valid addresses are accepted)
- Start the emailAI Pro engine with the Engine Monitor or System Services.
- The emailAI Pro engine should now be processing all incoming mail automatically and sending off validated mail to the internal exchange server
